|
|
| Thinking of taking my door cards out tonight (already probably not a great idea) but wondered if there were any top tips or surprises waiting for me? Is this a simple as it looks or are there any springs etc waiting behind the mechanisms for me to lose? Thanks people. |

no surprises ... just make sure that when you replace them , the plastic membrane between the door and the card is either in very good nick, or just replace it,,, cos your door cards will soon get ruined by the damp |

'plastic membrane'? Do Ghia's have membrane behind the panels as standard then? I had my panels off this afternoon whilst fitting new check straps and they didn't have membranes.
Are they buyable because I want some now!
Quick check list before popping off your door panels
- undo the window winder
- undo anything holding the inner door handle (on my 1970 car there is a little screw behind the finger plate bit)
- pop all the outer clips out of the door before trying to move the panel.

they should have....if yours aint got them, get some......
any kind of plastic will do... so dont stress about getting og ones,, its only to stop your door cards getting wet , and trust me if your KG gets wet on the outside it will get damp on the inside |

yeah they look ok, but remember kg doors are longer than beetle ones so you would have to cut and join them,
best just get your own plastic sheeting,,,, |

I used poly sheet with heavy duty double sided tape many years ago.
Worked a treat. |
